This proposal photo session took place in late October, just as the autumn foliage season was beginning.

At this time of year, the mountains start to turn red and yellow, the air becomes crisp, and the scenery feels especially calm and romantic.

It is one of the most beautiful seasons for proposal photography and outdoor photo sessions in Japan.

Kamikochi is also a location that many of our international clients request, and we visit this area several times every year for proposals, engagement shoots, and wedding photo sessions.

Kamikochi is a protected national park located in the Japanese Alps, and it is known for its untouched natural beauty.

Things to Consider When Planning a Proposal in Nature

One important lesson from this proposal session is related to outfit planning.

The proposal was a complete surprise, and his partner thought they were simply going for a light hike.

She dressed very casually, wearing a sweater with a cute rabbit print.

The proposal itself was a success, and she was genuinely happy.

However, afterward, she quietly mentioned to him:

“I wish I had known this was a proposal. I would have worn something a little nicer for the photos.”

It wasn’t a serious complaint, but it reminded us how important photo-ready outfits can be—especially when you are planning a proposal or a special photo session in a beautiful location.
