bozphoto & styles is a boutique of two photographers and one producer / stylist that specialized in creative documentary and family photography. We are dedicated to giving you images that celebrate special time of your life and create moments very special.

Based in Tokyo, Japan, we travel all over Japan and overseas.

The chief photographer is Tsutomu, or many westerns call him “Tom”. At age of 19, he moved Seattle, then to Northern California, to study photojournalism at San Jose State University. His first career started at Napa Valley Register, a newspaper in a beautiful wine country. As spending 9 years in the United States, he returned to Japan, opened photography studio.

How it works

1. First please contact us and tell us details of your request, such as data, location, and type of photo session such as, Elopement, pre-wedding, engagement, family photo, newborn)

You can either use our contact form, or use WhatsApp. WhatsApp is usually quicker to response you.

2. Once you are ready to book with us, we require 30,000 yen deposit to secure the date. Payment can be made by PayPal, or bank transfer if you have a bank account in Japan.

3. After the reservation, we can discuss further details of your day. I recommend either by WhatsApp or LINE, but if you don't have those, email is fine. For wedding-day session, we ask for meeting, either online or face to face.

4. For pre-wedding or wedding-day session, the photography starts at your preparation, such as your house or hotel. For casual, engagement session, we meet at your requested location, and if you are not rush, have 5-10 min. chat before actual session starts.

5. We aim to wow you with some sneak peeks within a few weeks after the session. All other images are ready in about 1-2 months, depending on the season. You need some patience until they are ready, but believe me, it worth waiting! All images are provided by download and online gallery, and slideshow for pre-wedding and wedding-day session.

How do I reserve a photo session?

When do we pay the rest, after the deposit is made?

The remaining balance can be made, either cash at the end of the day, or within a few days after the session is over. We accept PayPal, or bank transfer if easier for you.
In case we cancel my reservation, is my deposit refundable?

We understand that your trip schedule changes. Out of 30,000 yen deposit, - More than 60 days, or 90 days during peak season (March, April, October - December) - 50% refund - Less than those dates above - No refundable. Or, when our photographer is in serious illness or in accident that he cannot perform on your photo session, it is fully refund.
Can we do a zoom meeting before the booking?

For Full-day wedding session, Yes. For engagement or pre-wedding session, many times this FAQ section give you your answers. Or you can always send me a message via WhatsApp for any questions. I usually get back with you in a day.
In case of rain or weather gets bad, can we change the date?

As long as our schedule matches, we can discuss about changing the date. Please talk with us at least two days before. However, during sakura (cherry blossom) season on Spring, and red laves season on Autumn, we are usually fully booked and rescheduling is difficult. Therefore, photo session happens rain or windy.
Is there charge for traveling outside of Tokyo?

We are ready to visit any places in Japan, or any other countries overseas. To travel outside of Tokyo, we charge some extra fees, such as (1) Actual travel cost between our base (Kichijouji, Tokyo) to your destination. (2) Long distance fee 5,000 yen - traveling a place one hour away 20,000 yen - traveling a place two hours away 30,000 yen - traveling a place three hours away (3) We charge lodging fee for the photo session longer than three hours away from Tokyo. Please ask us for estimated cost of travel.
Will images from my session be shown in your portfolio?

As you found us from images we shot in the past, building our portfolio is very important for our business. Not everything, but some of our favorite images often shows up on our instagram or website galleries. Your names or personal information are never disclosed to protect your privacy. In any case your images cannot be in public, please let us know before the shooting day. We can discuss some possibilities. Thank you.
How Many photos do we get?

We offer 150 photos from 2 hours session, 300 images from half-day, and 400 from images from one-day session. That is the minimum number. It can be a little more, or lot more, depending on how it goes.
When will we receive our photos?

Do you provide dress rental service?

Sorry, we don’t have a dress rental service available for our session. Our couple need to prepare a dress in your own. If you have extra time, or if you live in Tokyo, I can introduce you a dress rental shop that offer you pre-fitting service. Not wedding dress. But we have kimono rental service available. We have formal shiromuku kimono, or semi-formal furisode, or causal one. Please ask us for more details.
How many time can I change dress / clothing during the session?

With 2 hours session, we may not have time to change a dress. With half-day or One-day session, you may change a dress as we move a location. Most of time, we return to your hotel to change, but in case we are away, or don't have much time, I can prepare a portable changing tent.
Will the photos be edited and retouched?

Yes, all photos will be edited and brightness and color balance will be adjusted in final product.
What camera do you use?

We use Sony cameras. Used to be Nikon user for long time, but after A9 came out with super autofocus quality, changed everything. Some gears bringing to our sessions are - Sony α9 II X 2 - 20-40mm lens - 35mm f1.8 lens - 50mm f1.2 lens - 85mm f1.4 lens
Can you do video service?

No, we don't. However, I can introduce you some companies who work often work with me. Just need to check their availability in your own.
Can you make me slim in the final photos?

No. Sometimes we can delete basic spots or thing on the background on some photos. But we are not specialized in retouching your shape. There are some online services for this kind of retouches and you are welcome to use, if needed.
Where do we take the photos, and do we need a permission to do it?

Usually we choose outdoor locations where a permission is not required. Even some outdoor place like parks and gardens, sometimes permission is required. It depends on what you wear. If you wear just a casual clothing, or a semi-formal dress, that does not look like a wedding style, we are OK. But once we wear a dress with long skirt or look too formal, then we need an approval process in advance. If you don’t have much idea for the location, yet, please tell me what you have in your mind, such as nature, traditional area, modern city, beaches, etc. I can give you some suggested places.
Can I bring my bags or luggages for the photo session?

For pre-wedding session, you can leave your bag in our car during the session, but try to make as compact as possible, as our trunk is full of camera gears. For engagement session, ideally bring only what you want to be in the photo with. Otherwise, please try to put everything in one small bag. I am happy to hold your bag during the shoot. In Tokyo, every station has a locker room, and we suggest to put a stroller if you need to bring one.
What should we wear for the photo?

Anything is good for me. Something that comfortable for both of you. Just make sure that those photos remain for long time. There are restrictions on places wearing a bridal outfits or formal kimono as they permit a commercial photography.
Do you have a hair & make up service?

In case hiring us for pre-wedding session, we bring our stylist to your hotel for the preparation. After make up is done, we travel to a shooting by car. If the shooting destination is further than one-hour away from your hotel, you should have a place to prepare nearby. It can be a rental meeting space.
Do you use an assistant?

For family or engagement session, I work alone, in a low-key manner, and to capture in a natural and relaxed way. However, for pre-wedding session, we work with an assistant, usually my stylist, to help on your dress or to fix hair etc. You can bring your own stylist for the pre-wedding session, but there will be still charge for our assistant in my own.
How long do you have until we download finished images?

It is highly recommended you to download images as soon as the link is given. The download link is only valid for one month. In case you forget to download, or lose images, your images are kept for next 6 months.
